Tengzhou is located in the southern part of Shandong province, and it borders on Xue Cheng in the south, Shanting in the east and Weishan County in the west. Tengzhou has convenient transportation link with the outside. Jinghu Railway, State Highway No. 104, Tengping Highway , Jizao Highway and Jingfu Expressway all pass Tengzhou.

　　The roads of Tengzhou city consist of main roads, sub-main roads and branch roads. Main roads consist of ‘ four horizontals, five longitudinals and one circular ' , the four horizontals are: Beixin road, Longshan road, Jiefang road,Jinghe road; the five longitudinals are: Xixin road, Pingxing road, Shanguo road, Tasi road, Dongxin road; the one circular: the outside circular road of the city. Sub-main roads consist of four horizontals and six longitudinals. The four horizontals are: Kaifaqu road, Xinhua road, Xingtan road,Gongyuan road; the six longitudinals are: Gongye road, Datong road, Xinxing road, Binhe road, Wenchang road and Dongxin road.

　　Through years of construction, the roads system in Tengzhou has taken initial shape. A road network system with Longshan road and Jinghe road as the main roads from east to west, Shanguo road and Pingxing road as the main roads from south to north, which is a typical city of flat land and crisscross shape. The roads are divided into four types according to their grade, function, flow of transportation, view requirements and cross-section: block-one, block-two, block-three and boulevards. Main roads consist of block-three roads and are divided into different lanes according to directions of transport. The lanes for cars are 14-18 meters wide. Other roads mainly belong to block-one. The lanes of sub-main roads for cars are 14-18 meters wide, and the lanes of branch roads for cars are no less than 12 meters wide. The distance between sub-main roads is 300-500 meters, and the distance between main roads is 1000-1200 meters.

　　By the end of 2003, the size of the city is 23.2 square kilometers with a population of 274000. The total length of roads is 209 kilometers. Road density is 3.88kilo meters/one square kilometer. Average per capita road area is 11.37 square meters. The roads in Tengzhou city have clear division of functions; motor vehicles and non-motor vehicles take different lanes, no interference with each other. The roads are very convenient and have met the need of the city ' s development.
